Given the current trends in globalization, there has been an increase in the number of Japanese students opting to learn Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PFL). As researchers we were interested in examining the L2 Portuguese learner's responses to an online Word Association Task and comparing them to our native control. However, we didn't get very far in the data collection phase. Join Chiharu as she talks about Japanese culture, the learning of PFL in Japan and the challenges of remote data collection in Japan.
